The Beauce saga continues…

June 16th, 2006

I just read on velonews website that the ‘race officals’ are denying that they kicked me off the race even though there are plenty of people who heard him say so, including a a member of the race organisaton who was in our team car as a guest. This really pisses me off…

Getting kicked out of Beauce!

June 16th, 2006

What can i say…

I was getting back after a puncture about 100kms into the stage to mount megantic and as usual after a change from neutral support we check the rear break calliper to make sure it’s not rubbing or too tight on the rim when the commasaire from Italy of all places does’nt even give me a warning or a fine, just throws me out of the race! I protest with the assistance of Ed Beamon my director but to no avail…

After that i gave him a good peice of my mind in my best Irish accent… Lots of Bleeps here…

But all said i’m very f***** pissed off as i have some good form and everyone on the team is flying so it was a great opportunity to get a win in a stage and make a bit of coin.

Now all i’m looking forward to is getting the f**k out of Quebexico… With our Nationals on next weekend i’m not going to dwell on it to much, just get back home chill out for a few days and try stay off the booze in the next day or so here in St George! I’ve cashed in some hard earned air miles in order to get back sooner rather than later…

I’m still in shock!!

Greetings from Canada!

Sorry about the lack of updates recently…

It’s been a busy time! From Washington DC ,Lancaster, Reding and Philadelphia, Where the team had 3 podiums and the overall victory.

We had an epic road trip up here straight after finishing Philly all the way to le Ville de St. Georges, Qubec for the Tour de Beauce. Think it took about 14 or 15 hrs of driving with the team van only breaking down once!!

The form is Ok at the moment but i’m a bit tired after all the racing and traveling in the past week… Still only 4 more days and then it’s back home for our National championships on June 25th in Westport Co.Mayo.

Chat soon…

Ras stage 2

May 22nd, 2006

Well i said it would be an aggressive race but i did’nt think it would be quiet has hard as today turned out… Danny Pate won the stage and now wears the yellow jersey with a 27 sec gap over some Norwgian dude followed by 2 english guys at about 40 sec’s back. I’m 13th overall now @ 3.45 but with 6 more stages in what is turning out to be a very difficult race to control it’s still all to play for… I think!

P.S. It did’nt rain today!!

The Ras 1.

May 21st, 2006

A very Irish weather system moved in for the first day on the FBD insurance ras in Dublin today… RAIN, RAIN, RAIN! It ended up to be an pretty easy day with a strong tail wind. At the end of it all i got thru it ok in 30th place in a big group sprint won by Chris Newton who just caught Tommy Evans on the line. It’s a long week so i’m not too stressed about the 12 sec’s i lost to Newton on time bonuses.

My fellow Navigators team mate Ciaran Power made an impressive return to Interanational racing, now in 3rd spot on GC!! The Power fella is back…

The Weather is promised crap for a few days yet so it should be an aggressive week of racing…

Ill try keep you posted

What an ass kicking…

May 3rd, 2006

Well, what an ass kicking i got at Henniger turm in Frankfurt on monday! After almost 10 days off the bike with a nasty chest infection / flu i only got about 5 days of riding in before i had the call i was dreading… I need you to go to Germany.

‘The Men of the Ras’

I have 3 weeks of training at home in Ireland to get myself back into some good form before i get ready to hit the Ras again… The Boss man Ed Beamon gave me the go ahead to do it as prep for Philly week but I’M UP FOR IT… It looks like there are some good teams entered this year so it should be an exciting race.

I look forward to keeping ‘missingsaddle’ posted on all the ‘craic’ from the ras…

I’M SICK…

April 18th, 2006

I’m sick… I have a chest infection and a fever for the last 4 days. I feel like crap sitting at home here in Cong drinking cups of camomile tea and eating easter eggs… I was supposed to ride Ronde um Koln yesterday in Germany but there was no chance of that! Only 20 guys finnished so ’she’ must have been a bit savage. Tour of Georgia is kicking off tommorow where i think Brooks is going to go one better than last year on stage 1…

Talk soon when i hope to be feeling a bit better

David
